Share and Voice: ABC news story

So I have really been on this kick lately where I am convinced that there are toxic chemicals that the general public is unwittingly ingesting. Not only that but what bothers me most is that there are so many regulations regarding pharmaceuticals and food regulation. For example, when you take a pill you know what the common side effects are or when you eat a granola bar you get to know what the ingredients are. But not so for chemicals, I think Matt discussed this in a post that leaching occurs and the saddest part is that its in our baby products. So I found this article on the issue and this is just one of many but it's interesting and easy to read.

  1. It's so sad that even our babies are exposed to such harmful chemicals that can have lifelong repercussions. This occurred to me when we all looked up our products on the Environmental Working Group website and I realized that Johnson & Johnson (maker of baby products GALORE) adds a lot of sketchy chemicals to many of their lotions, soaps etc. This issue definitely needs to be addressed, good post.

  2. This article is sad and scary to me. Poor babies that really have no control or voice.

I would love to see more literature out there about the long term effects of these pthalates and exactly what damages they might cause in the future.

  3. It's hard to believe that there are companies out there who don't care about the effects of chemicals, even when it comes to baby products. This is an extremely disturbing thought. Good find!

  4. This is a scary subject. How do we know when or how to protect ourselves if we do not even know these chemicals are being put into our bodies? It makes me very upset that companies feel it is okay to put our lives and our families lives in danger. Do they not realize if they are making these products they too are putting themselves in danger. In the article you posted I noticed a word I have never seen before, phthalates. These are scary chemicals that are being put into our bodies and young children.

  5. Very interesting article Molly. Like many of our fellow bloggers stated, it's absolutely frightening that chemicals and leeching from products is happening even to our babies. Like I've stated many times before all these large companies care about is money!!! They know what's going into these products yet they turn a blind eye for the almighty dollar. This makes me so angry and outraged and more regulations and policies need to be done to stop some of this madness. Now that I'm all fired up.... Very nice post Molly.

  6. Great find with that article Moll! Yikes, after reading that and watching that little quip from class yesterday about how dangerous breast milk can actually be it freaked me out! How sick is it that we unknowingly ingest harmful toxins into our body and in turn potentially pass them on to our children! Eek!
